Entry requirements set by The Business School Pty Ltd

A course entry interview will be conducted with each student before enrolment to assess suitability for course entry. Students enrolling in the BSBSS00063 – Team Leader Skill Set must meet the following requirements set by The Business School Pty Ltd;

Academic requirement

  • Students should be able to read and write English at approximately year 12 level
  • Completion of Certificate III or above (AQF) for entry to a Certificate IV
  • Other relevant qualifications (Case-by-case)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Complete a pre-enrolment questionnaire and if required will conduct a Language Literacy and Numeracy test

Resource requirement

Students must have access to:

  • A laptop, tablet (PC or Mac) with Internet (a minimum reliable speed of 5mbps is recommended)
  • A dedicated email address (if student is using a workplace email, they should consult with employer/workplace for appropriate approvals)
  • Suitable Web Browser to access The Business School online portal Moodle
  • Latest Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Acrobat Reader (Essential for Mac Users)
  • Latest Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel

The Business School Pty Ltd has identified that applicants will already hold fundamental knowledge and demonstrate key skills that are integral to completing the training program within the described time frame. TBS acknowledges students must be suited to the training program in which they enroll and be given the best opportunity for a positive vocational outcome. TBS will collect documents and evidence to identify and confirm prior skills and knowledge and to ensure the student is suited to this program of study.

Online Self-paced distance learning delivery. Optional for face to face, minimum of 8 students per intake, the trainer is an additional cost, accepted on case by case requests.

The student course content is available online. Students can have access to their learning material and assessment resources any time of the day when they access the internet with a suitable PC, laptop or device with web browser and video call capability.

Online study gives students the flexibility to study at their own pace and fit in with their lifestyle. Students have access to a dedicated trainer to mentor and assist throughout the course duration. Students have the opportunity to collaborate with others online in discussions forums for a supportive and enjoyable online learning experience for all students.

Students will be exposed to time and productivity pressures that exist in an actual workplace environment. Training and assessing will include guidance for all students. For each individual student who discloses to The Business School, a disability, specific learning difficulties or specific learning needs, we can review the training plan case by case. We also offer LLN support using LLN Robot and TBS Pre-enrolment questionnaire.

The course duration is 24 weeks, equivalent to 6 months with no holidays. This is a self-paced distance learning course and with online training and assessment delivery.

Student Induction

The purpose of student induction is to provide students with information about The Business School’s expectations, rules and facilities.  The students can access a copy of the student handbook and course outline from The Business School online portal Moodle. The type of information included in the student handbook covers the following;

  • Support services within The Business School
  • Legislative requirements
  • Principles of Training and Assessment
  • Assessment Policy and RPL
  • Student information, LLN support and Student Support Policy
  • Complaints and Appeals processes
  • Contact details for The Business School

Online Delivery and Self-paced Distance learning online training and assessment

The online training environment is flexible and supports students to practice skills using case studies, role plays and simulations that use standard business resources and equipment commonly used including computers, software for business and online video capabilities. Online role-plays and simulation support students’ development of their skills.

The session plan is summary of the content and activities to be covered in each session and refers the student to relevant parts of learning and assessment materials to be covered.

They will often be supported by other resources such as PowerPoints, handouts, learner resource and other supplementary resource materials will be outlined on the session plan. Session plans ensure that what should be covered in a session is covered. Trainers should provide feedback for improvement to session content and materials.

Assessment Resources and Training Materials

The course is delivered using assessment resources purchased JNB, Author John Bailey. They include learning resources for students, trainer marking guides and mapping tools.

Assessment Methods

The assessment resources by JNB use various assessment methods for each unit of competency. This ensures the students are being assessed across various methods to ensure the students are able to obtain and absorb the required knowledge and skills during their learning and assessment time.

Definitions of each of these methods and descriptions has been drawn from the ASQA Guide to developing assessment Tools (page 5),

Third-Party Evidence To inform a judgement about whether a learner has achieved competency, evidence is often collected by the assessor. However, other people (such as workplace supervisors) can also report what they see or hear to the assessor. Evidence collected in this manner is called third-party evidence (it is also sometimes called ‘supplementary evidence’). person collecting third-party evidence is not conducting any assessment. It remains the role of your RTO’s assessor to make the judgement about whether competency has been achieved.

Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence

All assessment practices are conducted in accordance with the Principles of Assessment and the Rules of Evidence.

These 4 units provide credit towards BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management. BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management has a total number of 12 units.

Total number of units = 12

  • 4 core unit plus
  • 8 elective units, of which:
    • 4 elective units must be selected from the Group A qualification units
    • 4 elective units may be additional units selected from the Group A or Group B qualification units
    • if not listed in the qualification electives, 1 unit may be selected from any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course at Certificate IV level or above

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

$800.00 per student, for online self-paced distance learning pathway.

The Business School Pty Ltd operates as a ‘fee for service’ training business. This means all training programs attract fees. All fees will be paid at or prior to the commencement of training unless prior arrangements are made with TBS management.

Where less than $1,500 is collected prior to the commencement of training or where the total course fee is less than $1,500, a fee protection process is not required. These fees are paid by/charged to the student, a government agency or the student’s employer.

Where the total course fee is more than $1,500, TBS will observe the requirements of Schedule 6 of the Standards for RTOs 2015. This schedule outlines requirements for protecting fees prepaid by individual students or prospective students for services.

Each of these information streams clearly identifies all fees and charges, including optional charges such as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) fees, and will be updated regularly so that both TBS and our clients will be protected.

The Business School Pty Ltd will provide the following fee information, to each student:

  1. The total amount of all fees including course fees, administration fees, materials fees and any other charges;
  2. Payment terms, including the timing and amount of fees to be paid and any non-refundable deposit/administration fee;
  3. The nature of the guarantee given by the RTO to complete the training and / or assessment once the student has commenced study in their chosen qualification or course;
  4. The fees and charges for additional services, including such items as issuance of a replacement qualification testamur and the options available to students who are deemed not yet competent on completion of training and assessment; and
  5. The applicant’s refund policy.

Total course fee
Each qualification, unit of competency or accredited course offered by The Business School Pty Ltd has a specific course/unit fee. The course fee is the maximum fee that may be charged to the student for his/her selected training program.

It is TBS’s policy that the course/unit fee will be all-inclusive. Students will not be ‘surprised’ by unexpected requirements, fees or expenses.

Where additional resources normally associated with a program of study are required (for example; reference material, research documents, own computer) the student will be clearly advised of exactly what is required in the student study guide for that program.

RPL Fees are 50% of the full course fees or by negotiation prior to acceptance. Please refer to our website

RPL Fees will be invoiced for the full amount and must be paid in full unless payment terms have been negotiated with Students.

GAP training fees will be charged on a case by case basis subject to the lack of or additional evidence requirements. Any gap training students will be provided prior to enrolment of the additional Units, the fees and cost associated with this and will be negotiated with the students. The course fee is the maximum fee that may be charged to the student for his/her selected training program.

Payment required in advance for full course fees. (Does not Include RPL)
A deposit of 20% of the total course fee is required from each student upon enrolment and the balance of fees are to be paid in two (2) equal instalments of 40% each.  Instalment one is due within six (6) weeks of the first course date and Instalment two is due six (6) weeks after Instalment one.  Invoices to be generated to student with all payment schedules listed.

Re-assessment fee

Produce partial completion statement of attainment
No fee applies to produce a statement of attainment when the student has partially completed the training program and must withdraw.

Re-print certification
Where the student requests a new copy of his / her certification, the following fees apply:

  • Statement of attainment $25.00+GST
  • Qualification (with academic transcript) $40.00+GST

  • Cheque only by prior arrangement

Fees must be paid by the due date agreed. This will be clearly stated prior to your enrolment.

No awards will be issued unless full fees have been paid.

All Nationally Recognised Qualifications, Accredited Courses and Units of Competency delivered by The Business School Pty Ltd are GST-Free in accordance with the Australian Taxation Office GST Rulings GSTR 2000/27, GSTR 2001/1 and GSTR 2003/1.

Receiving Payments


A deposit of 20% of the total course fee is required from each student upon enrolment. The deposit will be made into The Business School Pty Ltd.’s No 2 account. And transferred to the No 1 account (operating account) at the commencement of training.

Contractual agreement

Students who enrol in a training program or RPL application with The Business School Pty Ltd should be aware that they are entering into a contractual agreement. With a view to ensuring all students are fully aware of their rights and obligations, The Business School Pty Ltd will design agreements, enrolment forms, service agreements or similar using a logical format and simple English. This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Wording that allows the perspective student to know what he / she is agreeing to
  • Clearly explained disclaimers
  • No misleading or deceptive behaviour
  • No actions, omissions or dialogue (written or verbal) that may force or coerce the student
  • Fair dealings for disadvantaged students
